The rainbow trout fishing you came for.
From late June through mid-September, our floatplane-accessed creeks and braided rivers produce daily encounters with wild rainbows in the 20-to-28-inch range. Every fish is released. Every river is chosen that morning, by pilots and guides reading the water, weather and bite.
15 to 20 trophy rainbows per day is not a marketing line. It is what guests have been coming back for, year after year, for forty years.
From the lodge

Five aircraft. Three dozen boats. One private region.
Three floatplanes and two wheeled aircraft give us the flexibility to chase weather and fish across the entire Bristol Bay watershed. Boats and rafts are staged on top-tier rivers throughout the region — fly into a system, transition to a jet boat, fish two rivers in a single day.
Pilot Bill Sims has flown this country for four decades. He knows exactly where the bite moved overnight.
“Going back for our fifth time. The best-kept secret in Bristol Bay. Great family, great staff, great food, and spectacular fly fishing.”

The week you'll talk about for the rest of your life.
A limited number of weeks each season, June through October. Inquire early — most guests rebook before they fly home.

Bigger fish in bigger water.
Alaska weather doesn't wait, and neither do we. Put on the rain gear and step onto the bow. These are the days where the true monsters are caught.
Our guests battle weather patterns head on, knowing the payout on the end of the line.

Colors that refuse to fade.
Leopard-spotted giants in their native habitats. These massive rainbows are handled with exact precision and quickly released back into the crystal waters of the Bristol Bay watershed.

We don't ask you to imagine.
This is what the net looks like. Record-breaking moments, documented.

We share the river.
You aren't just here for the fishing. The Lake Clark and Bristol Bay regions are dense sanctuaries for the coastal brown bear.
Drift peacefully past sleeping giants on the riverbanks. Witnessing apex predators in their absolute prime natural state is an unforgettable addition to your logbook.

The Hook Set.
Every drift counts. The strike comes when you least expect it, demanding split-second timing in fast-moving braided currents.

Miles of Solitude
Your private gateway deep into the Alaskan ecosystem.

The day begins and ends on the water.
From the moment you step off the dock at Newhalen Lodge to the minute the floatplane gracefully touches back down.
This isn't an itinerary, it's an expansive expedition orchestrated daily by our veteran pilot crews.
