Guest Guide & Preparation
Operating a remote fly-out lodge 185 miles southwest of Anchorage requires careful preparation. Review the core logistics below to ensure a safe, comfortable, and seamless wilderness experience.
Baggage & Luggage Limits
A strict 50 lbs weight limit per guest is enforced for all regional and floatplane flights. All gear must be packed in soft-sided duffel bags to allow for secure stacking in the aircraft cargo compartments. Hard-sided suitcases cannot be loaded.
Travel Times & Logistics
Check-in is at 2:00 PM on Monday at the Lake Clark Air terminal (Merrill Field, Anchorage). The charter flight takes approximately 60 minutes to Nondalton, followed by a quick floatplane transfer. Monday check-out is at 9:00 AM from the lodge dock, arriving in Anchorage around 10:15 AM. Do not book homeward flights from Anchorage before 2:00 PM.
Technical Apparel & Gear
Layers are essential for Alaska's shifting weather. Bring breathable chest waders, warm fleece or synthetic middle layers, wool socks, and a high-quality wind/rain jacket. Note: Felt-soled wading boots are legally banned in Alaska to prevent the spread of invasive species. Rubber-soled wading boots are required.
Alaska Sportfishing Licenses
All guests must purchase a valid Alaska sportfishing license online from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) prior to arrival. If you are fishing between June 15 and July 15, you must also purchase a King Salmon stamp.
Wi-Fi & Connectivity
The lodge is equipped with high-speed Starlink satellite internet in the main lodge building, allowing you to check emails and make calls. However, there is no cellular service on Sixmile Lake or at the remote river fly-out locations.
Dietary & Medical Needs
Our culinary team prepares custom menus daily. If you have any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical needs, please submit them to our booking coordinator at least 30 days prior to your arrival so our chefs can prepare.
Physical Requirements
Wilderness fly-out fishing requires general physical mobility. Guests must be comfortable stepping in and out of floatplanes, boarding skiffs and rafts from uneven, rocky shorelines, and wading in moving currents.
Deposits & Cancellations
Cancellations must be submitted in writing. For cancellations made 120 days or more prior to your scheduled start date, your deposit is fully refundable minus a $300 per person processing fee. Within 120 days, refunds are only issued if a replacement guest is found for your exact slot.
