The Private
Floatplane Fleet.
Exclusive access to millions of acres of untouchable wilderness. We own our aircraft, ensuring you never wait on commercial charters or outsourced delays.

A private air force
built for Bristol Bay.
Many operations market "fly-out fishing," but legally rely on third-party commercial charters. When the clouds drop or schedules shift, their guests are stuck waiting in line.
Newhalen Lodge is a registered aviation hub. We own and operate five aircraft exclusively for our 12 weekly guests. That means an unprecedented 2:1 angler-to-aircraft ratio. Our pilots live on-site, our planes wait at our dock, and our flight schedules dictate the industry standard.

The de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver.
Revered as the greatest bush plane ever built, the DHC-2 Beaver is the absolute backbone of Alaskan wilderness logistics. Produced in the 1950s, these aircraft were engineered specifically for short takeoff and landing (STOL) operations in brutal backcountry environments.
Armed with massive radial engines and heavy-duty floats, our four Beavers allow us to slip into tight, winding rivers and shallow, high-alpine lakes that simply cannot be accessed by larger aircraft or jet boats.
- Radial Pratt & Whitney R-985 engine
- Carrying capacity of 4-5 anglers
- Unmatched short-field capability

The Turbine DHC-3 Otter.
When we need to punch deep into the coastal range or push large groups out to legendary systems like the Nushagak, we spool up the Turbine Otter.
Our DHC-3 has been fully retrofitted with a high-performance turbine engine. This provides massive payload capability, faster cruising speeds, and the ability to comfortably transport large crews and gear packages across sprawling weather systems without hesitation.

Veteran Pilots. Absolute Precision.
A floatplane is only as capable as the pilot on the yoke. Our pilots process thousands of hours of remote Alaskan flight time. They possess an intimate, highly localized understanding of Lake Clark's erratic microclimates, thermal drafts, and river hydrology.
We operate under uncompromising FAA Part 135 safety regulations. Our maintenance program is fully integrated year-round, ensuring perfectly tuned avionics and immaculate engine performance before you ever cross the threshold.
The Daily Launch.
Transporting 12 elite anglers across thousands of miles of roadless wilderness requires a deeply synchronized daily operation.
Pilots review regional aviation weather, ceiling coverage, and wind patterns across Bristol Bay.
Guides and pilots coordinate to select the rivers offering the clearest water and strongest fish runs.
Four DHC-2 Beavers and the Turbine Otter fire up directly outside the lounge. Gear is loaded.
Touching down on remote gravel bars, glacial lakes, or deep main-stem river systems.
The fleet returns to the exact GPS coordinates to extract anglers and head back to Six Mile Lake.
Interactive Flight Radials.
We trace custom vectors from Nondalton directly out into the Kvichak and Nushagak watersheds daily.
